NVAR has made it easier than ever for your agents who are licensed in Maryland and DC to show listings in those areas. We've entered into a reciprocal agreement with the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors® to allow full, shared access to our members' SentriLock lockboxes.
SentriLock lockboxes associated with GCAAR will now be set up to allow seamless access to NVAR members and vice versa.
The whole process should work the same way as if a member were to assign lockboxes or provide access in the regions for DAAR, PWAR, FAAR, GRP and BRAR.
NVAR members will be able to assign SentriLock lockboxes in DC and Montgomery County, MD without having to change the region when assigning the lockbox to a property in the SentriKey or SentriConnect app.
NVAR members will be able to access SentriLock lockboxes in DC and Montgomery County, MD without having to reprogram their regions SentriKey or SentriConnect app.
Reciprocity eliminates the extra step of members having to contact NVAR or GCAAR when showing a listing outside of the respective regions, which streamlines the listing and showing processes.
SentriLock is aware of this change and have notified their customer support teams.
GCAAR has adopted their own SentriLock rules that mirror the Regional Rules and Regulations for the SentriLock Lockbox System adopted by NVAR. This will ensure consistency and predictability for Realtors operating in all jurisdiction.
Members must still only assign lockboxes to properties, show properties and/or provide access to properties in jurisdictions where they hold an active real estate license. Listing property and showing property are licensed activities under Virginia, Maryland and DC law. The Code of Ethics and SentriLock Rules are also clear that it is a potential violation to assign a lockbox and/or provide access to a property in a jurisdiction where the member is not licensed.
