About

The goal is to increase our members’ awareness of global business opportunities — both inbound and outbound — and to attract international investment to our incredibly diverse and culturally rich region.
NVAR Global consists of many initiatives, such as Global Success Month, NVAR’s Cultural Forums, educational events and resources for Realtors®, Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) training, and more!

Meet NVAR’s Reciprocal Countries
NVAR has Honorary Reciprocal Agreements (also known as Memorandums of Understanding or MOUs) with several international real estate associations. We look forward to expanding these relationships to provide value and ease of access to resources and networks across borders.

The Why
NVAR believes in the power of collaboration. We want to provide our members with ease-of-access to organizations around the world and to help them grow their businesses.
What is an Honorary Reciprocal Agreement?
An Honorary Reciprocal Agreement (also commonly known as a Memorandum of Understanding or MOU) is a written agreement without financial obligation to provide collaborative opportunities to do business, and promote their respective markets and regions.
Northern Virginia and Second Citizenship
Second citizenship is a legal status in which a person can claim citizenship of more than one country under the laws of those countries. A person holding multiple citizenship is, generally, entitled to the rights of citizenship in each country whose citizenship they are holding, such as right to a passport, right to enter the country, right to residence and work, and right to vote. There are two types of citizenship application processes: inbound and outbound.

Additional Resources
Real estate practices vary from country to country. It is important to be educated in the practices in those countries so you can best prepare your clients for the process. As always, when conducting real estate business in another country, make sure you are connected to the association and/or agents in that country to be sure you aren’t violating any laws or regulations. Often, a co-marketing or co-brokering relationship is best.

Trade Mission Opportunities
The Panama Real Estate Trade Mission offers NVAR members an exceptional opportunity to explore one of Latin America’s most dynamic and rapidly growing real estate markets. Taking place January 17–22, 2026, in conjunction with Expo Inmobiliaria ACOBIR at the Panama Convention Center, this mission provides a comprehensive introduction to Panama’s thriving property sector. As Panama’s largest and most important real estate event, the Expo will feature over 100 exhibitors showcasing more than 300 residential, commercial, and tourism projects from across the country. Participants can benefit from guided property tours, NAR-certified educational sessions including the Resort & Second-Home Property Specialist (RSPS) certification and Panama Experts certification, networking opportunities with international developers and investors, and insights into Panama’s new preferential interest rate law taking effect January 2026.
