Grievance Committee

The mission of the Grievance Committee is to promote and uphold professionalism within the membership, in accordance with the Code of Ethics, to elevate the business of members and to protect the Realtor® brand.

About

The Grievance Committee is responsible for reviewing both written complaints alleging violations of the Code of Ethics, the SentriLock Rules, and the NVAR Bylaws as well as arbitration claims involving a financial dispute. Committee members are scheduled to attend one meeting a month, beginning at 2:00p on the 2nd or 4th Tuesday of each month. Committee members should plan to attend at least nine monthly meetings each year. This committee meets in-person at NVAR’s Fairfax Headquarters. Grievance Committee members are required to complete an annual training to be eligible to serve on this committee.

The Grievance Committee does not make a determination as to whether a violation occurred, rather they work to ensure that complaints and claims are forwarded or dismissed prior to a more extensive review by the members of the Professional Standards Committee.

(Open to Realtor® members of at least 5 years)
