Are there rules for Realtors® that apply to blogs, social media and other Web sites?
A broker recently called me with a complaint about an advertisement by a competitor that appeared in a local community newspaper. The ad featured a detailed description of the other agent's services and two listings the agent currently had available for sale. Unfortunately, the advertisement failed to identify the agent's brokerage firm. Is this a violation of the Code of Ethics?
An agent has a listing for a property. One day while searching the real estate advertisements posted on craigslist (a popular Web site featuring classified advertisements), the agent discovers the following posting for her listing: “A Stunning 2 Bedroom, 2.5 Bathroom Townhouse. Best Price in Cedar Lakes. Located on Sutler Hill Court. Call Jesse at 207-3214 to Schedule a Showing.” The listing agent is curious and calls the number. She discovers, after talking with Jesse, that he is another agent who placed the advertisement on Craigslist in order to attract potential buyers. Is this ethical?
What Fair Housing Considerations should I be aware of in my advertising?
I’m a member of the “XYZ Team.” Do I still need to include my brokerage information in my advertising, or is stating my team affiliation sufficient?
I’m the listing agent for a property that was previously listed by another company. My client said that they are ok with reusing photos from the previous listing. Is there anything else I need to do?
Another Realtor® called me to say that my website is in violation of the Code of Ethics because I have not stated where I am licensed to practice real estate. My website clearly states that I serve Arlington County – what am I missing?

What about services that will provide lists of recently expired or cancelled Bright MLS listings - what do I need to know to avoid violating our legal and ethical obligations?
My clients are very interested in a property that has had a “coming soon” sign posted in the yard for more than 30 days. The sign was posted by a Realtor®. Is this a violation of the Code of Ethics?
