Making an Impact

NVAR members have the opportunity to serve as volunteer leaders and have a say in matters affecting the real estate industry. Their insight shapes how NVAR delivers value to its members and how Realtors® deliver value to their clients.

How NVAR Members Get Involved

Committees, advisory groups and forum advisory teams help bridge the gap between the association and our members – allowing us to work together to meet the needs of NVAR’s membership. The input of our volunteer leaders helps enhance the member experience, and their dedication is instrumental to the success of all Northern Virginia Realtors®.

How are members selected? Leadership applicants must submit a completed application. To learn more about the Board of Directors nomination process, which takes place in June of each year, click here. The NVAR Chairman of the Board, who is an elected volunteer member, then appoints candidates to selected leadership roles.

Leadership Opportunities

Although committees, advisory groups and forum advisory teams have the same application process, they differ in their goals. Committees and advisory groups recommend policy to NVAR’s Board of Directors. Forum advisory teams help plan our forum events, which include networking opportunities, professional development, educational programs and more. Any member can attend a forum event, but you must apply to be part of the advisory team that plans those events.

*Please note that some volunteer groups require prerequisites, which are outlined in the descriptions below, and each appointment serves a one-year term for the following calendar year.
