McLaughlin also serves as vice chair on the National Association of Realtors® 2021 Association Executive Committee Roster and is a member of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce board.

Don Beyer is serving his fourth term as the U.S. Representative from Virginia’s 8th District, representing Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, and parts of Fairfax County. He serves the Chairman of Congress' Joint Economic Committee, the House Committee on Ways and Means, and the House Committee on Science Space and Technology, where he chairs the Space Subcommittee. Scott MacDonald is a real estate investor, real estate broker, owner, and president of RE/MAX Gateway, specializing in residential real estate, headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia. Scott began his career in 1988. In 2001, he joined the RE/MAX network opening his own brokerage and becoming the owner of RE/MAX Gateway. With over 30 years of experience, Scott has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a nomination for Realtor of the Year and induction into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame. Most recently, Scott was recognized as one of the 2019 Top Real Estate Newsmakers by RIS Media, and he received the Outstanding Leadership Award from NOVA Real Producers Magazine. He currently serves on the Bright MLS Board of Directors.

Sam Shelby is an Urban Planner in the Land Use Services division of the Department of Planning and Zoning for the City of Alexandria. He was the Department lead on the City’s new accessory dwelling unit ordinance. He joined the City in December 2013. He graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Policy and Planning from Virginia Tech in 2011.

Carmen Bishop is the Assistant Zoning Administrator for the Ordinance Administration Section in the Zoning Administration Division. Along with Casey, she was a lead for the Zoning Ordinance Modernization (zMOD) project, which included substantive changes to the regulations for accessory living units (accessory dwelling units).

Joel Franklin

Joel Franklin is a Housing Planner for Arlington County, VA.  He is responsible for developing and implementing policy and planning studies related to the County’s housing and community development efforts.  This includes guiding the development and updates to the accessory dwelling unit regulations of the County’s Zoning Ordinance.  Prior to the thirteen years at Arlington County, he was a Community Development Planner for Fairfax County, VA and a City Planner for Duluth, MN.
