The Fairfax County Department of Transportation is seeking permission from the Board of Supervisors to establish a 40-year road fund and a special service district to raise $350 million from people who own residential and commercial property near Metrorail stations in Reston and outside the Town of Herndon.

The Reston Association Board of Directors voted to take a position that the service district should not be applied to any residential properties within the Reston TSA. However, they also recognized that the improvements should be made to "Keep pace with development" in the area and that commercial property owners should still be taxed.
