When you join NVAR, you agree to follow rules of professional conduct, including the NAR Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, NVAR’s Lockbox Rules and Regulations, and the association bylaws. Just like the Constitution of the United States, these rules need to be interpreted to be applicable in day-to-day business. A copy of NAR’s current Code of Ethics is included on the enclosed flash drive found in the front of this brochure. NVAR’s mandatory New Member Orientation class will give you an overview of what the Code means and some common situations and interpretations of the relevant rules.
What should you do when you find yourself in an ethically questionable situation and are unsure if there has been a violation? Call the Professional Services Department before a potential problem spins out of your control.
The Professional Services Department is here to strengthen and enhance the level of professionalism within the industry. Educating members about their responsibilities, administrating an official complaint process for ensuring compliance with rules, and providing members with tools to better serve clients is what professional services is all about.
