High Alert at Open Houses For All Realtors®; Be On the Lookout

Suspicious and Frequent Open House Visitor in NoVA!

UPDATED 9:20 AM, Monday, January 28:

NVAR has now received numerous recent reports from members who have encountered a disheveled, unkempt man in his 50s or 60s driving a black pick-up truck and attending NoVA open houses. The known locations now extend from Vienna to Haymarket, with a focus in the Centreville area. He signs the visitor logs using the names Jim and Tim.

This man’s behavior is erratic, and is focused on access to bathrooms and cabinets in the open houses. In one instance, he became upset that the master bath was locked.

Local police jusridictions should be made aware of the frequency of this individual attending open houses, along with accounts of his behavior. We advise filing first-hand reports, submitted by the Realtors® who encounter him.  At the same time, respect for clients and their property is paramount. If you see this man at an open house, CALL POLICE at the non-emergency numbers below:

  • Fairfax County – 703-691-2131
  • Loudoun County – 703-777-0445
  • Arlington County – 703 558-2222
  • Prince William County - East - 703-792-7200
  • Prince William County - West - 703-792-5111
  • Herndon - 703-435-6846

Also, as always, it is necessary to lock medications and valuables away from visitor access during an open house.

Please watch for this individual, and provide us with any additional details (license plate number, make/model of vehicle, commercial signs on the vehicle, etc.) that you can collect. Of course, we advise extreme caution regarding any interaction with this individual, including the taking of photos of him or his vehicle.

Again, please follow the strictest open house safety measures. And if you encounter other suspicious situations that raise safety issues for our members, please email  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. immediately with details.
